Three day national holiday weekend

The first three-day holiday weekend of the New Year will soon be upon us, and many of the most popular tourist destinations/sites will likely see increased numbers of visitors (Mexican tourists) - so prepare yourself accordingly if you'll be traveling in the country during the period January 31 - February 2, 2009.

Día de la Constitución and Día de La Candelaria will both be observed on Monday, February 2nd. February 5th is the actual Constitution Day, but to provide for more three-day weekends the Federal government has moved observances such as this to the preceding Monday. Banks will be closed, also.

The Candelaria observance is a particularly colorful/picturesque time and if you're looking to take some memorable photographs just locate the closest parish church, or Catedral, and have your camera ready!
